Steve Jackson Commercial Dice Games

Steve Jackson Games is a commercial games company based in the USA, producing themed games, including a number of speciality dice games.

Zombie Dice

Zombie Dice is a game invented and produced by Steve Jackson Games, which was first released in 2010. It was featured on the American TV series TableTop, where the characters, including one played by Wil Wheaton, were shown playing it in the 3rd episode first aired in 2012.

The game is for 2 to 8 players played with 13 dice marked with three different symbols: brains, shotgun blasts, and footprints representing "runners". The 13 dice are divided into three differently coloured groups with different distribution of symbols on their faces: the 6 green dice have 3 brains, 1 shotgun and 2 "runners"; the 4 yellow dice have 2 brains, 2 shotguns, and 2 "runners"; and the 3 red dice have 1 brain, 3 shotguns and 2 "runners".

Gameplay involves only luck with players just deciding when to "bank" points. The first player to score 13 points without subsequent players reaching their score in one subsequent turn, wins the game.

Zombie Dice won the 2011 Origins Award for best Family, Children's or Party game. It is also available in a deluxe version and as a digital game app.

Zombie Dice 2: Double Feature

Zombie Dice 2, first released in 2012, is an expansion pack for the original Zombie Dice game, which includes three new dice used to replace three of the original dice used in the original game. They are called the "Hunk", "Hottie" and "Santa Claus", which each have their own special abilities, boosting players' dice throw results.

Zombie Dice 3: School Bus

The second expansion pack released to be played with the original Zombie Dice game, Zombie Dice 3: School Bus, consists of a 12-sided yellow polyhedral dice and a number of counters. The extra polyhedral dice is used to add extra dimensions and features to the original game.

Cthulhu Dice

Steve Jackson's Cthulhu Dice game was inspired by HP Lovecraft's stories involving the Cthulhu Mythos. HP Lovecraft was an influential horror writer of the early 20th-century whose work is highly regarded.

First released in 2010, the game is short and played by 2 to 6 players with one custom polyhedral dice and 18 marbles. The single dice is marked with "glyphs" or symbols representing different elements of HP Lovecraft's fictional universe. The symbols are: Yellow Sign, Tentacle, Elder Sign, Cthulhu or an Eye of Horus. Players in turn roll the die and win or lose marbles representing "sanity" according the results thrown with the dice.

Mars Attacks Dice Game

The Steve Jackson Games Mars Attacks dice game is based on the Topps trading cards that featured green Martians, which also inspired the Mars Attacks feature film. Players destroy cities and kill earthlings according to the results they roll with the 10 dice supplied with the game package that includes 30 cards and rules sheet.

Proteus

Steve Jackson Games used to produce and sell a dice game based on the chess board game, which has since gone out of production. The Proteus Dice Game used 16 dice marked with different symbols of chess pieces. You may be able to still find the game on the second-hand market or places like eBay.
